Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle

The largest castle in Europe, dating from the Norman Conquest- the time of William the Conqueror. Much altered over the last thousand years, most of what you can see today dates from George IV's rein. St George's Hall and HM The Queen's Private Chapel are perhaps two of the most beautiful parts of this magnificent fortress. Though each have only recently completed restoration, by the hands of some of the finest craftsmen in England, after the fire.

The town itself is a bustling place with lots to see and do, not surprisingly many of its buildings date from the time of Queen Victoria. A main street winding up towards the Castle from the River Thames is most attractive. Take a boat cruise long the Thames, else walk along its shady bank, sheltered from the heat of a summer sun by so many weeping willow trees.
